Anno imperii Constantis primo Litorius ordinatur episcopus.
'In the first year of the Emperor Constans, Litorius was consecrated as the second Bishop. He was one of the townsfolk of Tours and a man of great piety. It was he who built the first church inside the town of Tours, for the Christians were now numerous. He converted this first church from the house of one of the senators. It was during the lifetime of Litorius that Saint Martin began to preach in Gaul. Litorius held the see for thirty-three years. He died in peace and was buried in the church mentioned above, which today is known by his name.'
Text: Krusch and Levison 1951, 526-527. Translation: Thorpe 1974, 593-594, lightly adapted.
