E07668: The will of Bishop Remigius of Reims, northern Gaul (ob. c. 535), written in Latin in Gaul c. 511/530, leaves a legacy to the church of *Timotheus and Apollinaris (martyrs of Reims, S00329) in Reims (north-east Gaul), in which he wishes to be buried.

'As for Friaredus, whom I bought for fourteen solidi to stop him being killed, I grant him two [solidi]; let him give twelve to make a chamber for the church of the lord martyrs, Timotheus and Apollinaris.'

Post conditum testamentum, immo signatum, occurrit sensibus meis, ut basilice domnorum martyrum Timothei et Apollinaris missorium argentum VI librarum ibi deputem, ut ex eo sedes futura meorum ossuum componatur.
'After the completion, indeed signing, of this testament, it occurred to my mind that I should arrange for a silver salver of six pounds to be given to the church of the lord martyrs Timotheus and Apoliinaris, so that, from it, arrangements should be made for the future resting-place of my bones.'
