Summary:
There was a certain Theodora, who once while drinking water swallowed a little frog. The animal installed itself in her stomach, and initially did not caused grave harm to the woman due to its still small size. However, when it grew big through feeding in her stomach, it began causing terrible and unbearable pain to her. Theodora threw herself on the ground in convulsions, but never got any moment of relief. She then figured out that her misery was of demonic provenance rather than a corporeal one. At least this was the diagnosis of the reputed physicians who were not able to propose any reasonable explanation for her state. She ended up in the shrine of the martyrs Cyrus and John as a demoniac. The saints appeared to her at once in a dream while she was sleeping and revealed the remedy to her. She was to drink water before eating anything, which was to heal her disease through its absorption by the water. The woman executed the command when she woke up. She drank water which provoked vomiting, and she excreted the frog. She regained her health contrary to hope; so she made offerings to the saints and left their sanctuary.
