Discussion

The text's prologue mentions the martyr legends of *Theopompos and Theonas (BHG 2443, E06692) and of a *Petros whom Halkin 1986, 57 identifies with the martyr at Nicomedia (S01119): Mετὰ τὸ μαρτυρίσαι τὸν τοῦ Χριστοῦ θεράποντα Θεόπομπον τὸν ἐπίσκοπον καὶ Θεωνᾶν τὸν μάγον καὶ τοὺς τέσσαρας προτίκτορας οἷς παρεδόθη ὁ ἅγιος Πέτρος... 'After the martyrdoms of the servant of Christ, Theopompos the bishop, and Theonas the sorcerer, and the four protiktores to whom saint Petros was delivered ...'
