Two non-conjoining fragments of a marble slab. Preserved dimensions: H. 0.13 m; W. 0.30 m. Letter height 0.03 m. Found in 1962 in the Basilica of St Quadratus (Kodratos). Now lost.

Discussion

The inscription is an epitaph for a person whose name is lost, mentioning *Mary (Mother of Christ, S00033) and invoking God to grant the deceased rest together with *All Saints (S01151). For l. 1. cf. E00805 (Milet VI/2, no. 961): τῆς δεσποί]νòης ἡμῶν τῆς ἁγίας ἐνδόξου Θ+εοτόκου καὶ ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας τῆς εἰς τὰ Κύρρου. On the name Σάρρα, see T. Ilan (ed.), Lexicon of Jewish Names in Late Antiquity. Part I: Palestine 330 BCE-200 CE (Texte und Studien zum antiken Judentum 91; Tübingen, 2002), 254-255. Dating: Erkki Sironen dates the inscription to the 5th-6th c., probably based on the shape of letters. The same date is given in Inscriptiones Christianae Graecae database.
