White marble block, presumed to be part of an altar (H. 0.23 m; W. 0.42 m; Th. 0.21 m), found by Louis Robert in the village of Çiftlik, to the south of Karacahisar/Hydissos (area of Mylasa, Caria, west Asia Minor), in the ruins of a church. First published by François Halkin.

Discussion

The sentence written on the altar somewhat resembles a passage from the Book of Revelation: καὶ οἱ ἅγιοι καὶ οἱ ἀπόστολοι καὶ οἱ προφῆται (Rev. 18:20) and an inscription from Gerasa/Jerash, dating to AD 464/465: (…) ἐ[γ]ένετο [ἡ ἐκκλησία] τῶν ἁγίων προφητῶν, ἀποστόλων, μαρτύρω[ν (...) (see E02361).
