Discussion

Around 590, under the Patriarch Damian (578–607), the foundation of the new Phoibammon monastery was sanctioned, after the old one further south west had been damaged by falling rocks. A number of monks then moved from the old to the new location provided on the territory of the former mortuary temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. In this document, the territory provided provisionally for the monastery is now formally and permanently handed over to the ownership of the monastery of Apa Phoibammon.
